Benjamin Dunphy
Partner
Benjamin founded January Capital in 2019, and holds overall responsibility for the firm’s strategy. He leads January Capital’s venture capital program, and is an investment committee member on both venture capital and growth credit strategies. Benjamin’s track record includes leading investments in Akulaku, Shopback, aCommerce, Great Question, Tazapay, Heymax and others. Benjamin was previously named as a member of the Forbes 30 under 30 Venture Capital and Private Equity list in 2019.
Prior to joining January Capital, Benjamin worked for Seabury Group, a leading restructuring and advisory firm in New York, consulting on engagements across three continents. Benjamin was previously based in Southeast Asia as Vice President of Operations for Lazada, a billion-dollar e-commerce company now owned by Alibaba.
Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Business (First Class Hons) from the Queensland University of Technology.

Jonathan Hodson
Partner
Jonathan is a Partner at January Capital where he is responsible for sourcing and executing on new investments within the firm’s venture capital strategy and managing existing portfolio investments with a particular focus on opportunities in the financial technology space and Australia. He is also an investment committee member on the venture capital strategy and has general responsibility for January Capital’s day-to-day operations. Jonathan’s track record includes January Capital’s investments in companies such as Go1, Marqo, Fluent Commerce, Tazapay, Standard Metrics and others.
Before joining January Capital, Jonathan spent several years at EY in its corporate finance practice specialising in transaction advisory. At EY, Jonathan was involved in mid cap and large cap buy and sell side transactions including IPOs and capital raisings with a focus on consumer and retail, renewable energy, resources and health.
Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a dual major in Finance and Accounting from the University of Queensland. Jonathan is also a Chartered Accountant.

Alex is an Investor at January Capital. Alex is involved in the sourcing and execution of new opportunities, as well as portfolio management of the firm’s existing investments, with a particular focus on opportunities related to commerce.
Alex is also responsible for firm-building initiatives that increase the mindshare of January Capital across the region. Prior to joining January Capital, Alex worked for Bytedance, specifically as one of the founding team for TikTok Shop, leading various product initiatives across the UK/Europe, the United States and South East Asia.
Prior to this Alex held various senior leadership roles across Southeast Asia with the likes of Alibaba Group and aCommerce. Alex holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) from IE Business School.

Hongfei Xia

Hongfei is an Investor at January Capital. Hongfei is a senior member of January Capital’s venture capital investment team, and is responsible for sourcing new opportunities, with a particular focus on software. He is also responsible for developing self-directed liquidity opportunities for the firm’s limited partners and has a leading role in assessing growth-stage investment opportunities.
Prior to joining January Capital, Hongfei worked at Google as the Corporate Development Lead (Asia), overseeing M&A and growth investments across the broader Asia-Pacific region. Prior to Google, Hongfei was a Principal at Silver Lake in Hong Kong, one of the world’s leading investment firms focused on late-stage technology investing. Hongfei began his career at Bank of America in Chicago, working as part of the firm’s industrials investment banking team.

Raynard is an Investor at January Capital, where he plays a key role in sourcing and executing new investment opportunities. He actively collaborates with Alex Rankin to advance the firm's ambitions in the commerce sector and will lead the company's growing investment initiatives in the Philippines. Raynard brings extensive transactional and operational expertise across the Asia Pacific region.
Prior to joining January Capital, Raynard was the Head of Finance and Corporate Development at Locad, a Series B cross-border logistics and fulfilment platform for global e-commerce brands, supported by notable venture firms like Sequoia Capital. In this role, he was instrumental in the firm’s fundraising efforts, successfully raising over US$25 million in debt and equity.
Previously, Raynard worked as an Investment Banking Associate at Fortman Cline Capital Markets, where he specialized in M&A advisory for deals valued at US$800 million across Southeast Asia. Additionally, he served as a professor at the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines, teaching finance and accounting courses.
Raynard holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the Ateneo de Manila University.

Prior to joining January Capital, Joshua was a Management Associate in the Strategic Portfolio Group at Singtel where he was involved in strategy, operations and performance turnarounds for key assets of the group. Prior to Singtel, Joshua worked in the Investment Banking Division of Daiwa Capital Markets, focused on mergers and acquisitions across Southeast Asia. Joshua also spent time at Deloitte in the firm's M&A Transaction Services service line, where he focused on financial due diligence, valuation and modelling.

Prior to joining January Capital, Roy was an Investor within Rapyd Ventures where he was involved in financial technology investments globally as well as covering mergers & acquisitions in the Asia-Pacific region.
Prior to Rapyd, Roy was an Investment Associate at XA Network an angel investment network. He was also an early employee at Entrepreneur First (a UK founded deep tech accelerator), where he was the initial employee based in Singapore and responsible for launching Entrepreneur First in Hong Kong.

Partner
Chin was previously the CEO and first employee of Innoven Capital in Southeast Asia and grew Innoven to be the leading venture debt platform in the region. Chin also served as a member of Innoven’s global credit committee which, during the time he was there, oversaw deployment of over US$750 million of venture debt to over 200 start-ups in Southeast Asia, India and China. Specifically from Southeast Asia, Chin provided over US$180 million in venture debt to over 50 start-ups including leading companies such as Akulaku, Carsome, Funding Societies, Nium, Ruangguru and Tiki.
Chin also has more than 20 years of venture equity experience as a Managing Director of Venture TDF Singapore, Venture TDF China and Sirius SME. Notable investments included Alibaba, Baidu, DMX Technologies, Focus Media and Heptagon (acquired).
Chin holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Stanford Law School. Jason is a Partner at January Capital where he is responsible for overseeing January Capital’s Growth Credit Strategy alongside Chin Chao.
Jason is also the founder of Alternatives.pe, the leading source of data for private capital market investors in Southeast Asia and Australia. Prior to joining January Capital, Jason co-founded Qualgro, a leading venture capital fund in Singapore. Select investments that Jason led or co-led while at Qualgro include Wavecell (acquired), Shopback, Patsnap and Sirion Labs.
Jason was previously the General Counsel and an Investment Committee member for Clearwater Capital Partners, a multi-billion dollar private credit fund. Prior to this, Jason was a Partner at Baker & McKenzie, based in Thailand and Hong Kong.
Jason holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Master of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology. He is admitted to practice law in Australia, Hong Kong, England and Wales.

Prior to January Capital, Wei Yun was an associate director at Innoven Capital, where she executed on 30+ transactions over six years. Wei Yun has also held roles in BNP Paribas and UOB, structuring debt facilities to over 70 companies across the agriculture, automotive, consumer and construction sectors.

Cze Kin Lau

Czekin is the Head of Finance at January Capital where he is responsible for the firm’s finance function including the management of finance operations, accounting and budgeting.
Prior to joining January Capital, Czekin headed high-performance finance teams at several technology startups including Gojek, WeWork, and Workmate where he was involved in multiple funding rounds and M&A deals. He has gained experience across finance roles in multiple industries including software, fintech, real estate and FMCG. Earlier in his career Czekin also spent several years as an auditor in EY.
Czekin holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) from Nanyang Technological University. He is also a Certified Chartered Accountant.

Dahlia oversees all legal and compliance matters at January Capital. Prior to joining the firm, she worked at leading law firms in Japan and Singapore including Anderson Mori & Tomotsune and Rajah & Tann, managing cross-border and domestic, private and public M&A transactions in the private equity and venture capital sectors. She also provided legal support to the wealth management division of Standard Chartered Bank.

Finance Manager
Ryan is a Finance Manager at January Capital providing support across the firm’s finance and operations department. Ryan’s responsibilities include running fund operations, driving quality improvement and efficiency initiatives.
Ryan commenced his career as an audit intern at Ernst & Young Singapore LLP before accepting a priority offer to join EY full time within the diversified industries group after graduation. Prior to EY, Ryan worked at Shenton Insurance Brokers as an accountant and compliance officer where he was mainly involved in financial and compliance reporting to regulators.

Prior to joining January Capital, Jun Wei was an Assistant Manager in the financial services audit division at Deloitte & Touche focused on corporate banks and asset management firms. During his tenure at Deloitte, Jun Wei completed a year-long secondment in the business partnerships team at Temasek Holdings. Jun Wei was primarily involved in valuation and financial audit support, and financial analysis of the firm’s direct investment portfolio.

Prior to GDA Group, Paul was a senior analyst in the client reporting team at Northern Trust.

David Bridge

David is the Head of Investor Relations at January Capital with responsibility for investor relations, firm communication and capital raising initiatives.
Prior to joining January Capital, David was a Partner and Head of Investor Relations at Tribeca Investment Partners where he was responsible for the global distribution of Tribeca’s equity, credit, natural resources and carbon focused funds.
Prior to Tribeca, David headed investor relations for commodity focused hedge fund RCMA Asset Management in Singapore. Earlier in his career, David worked in several roles as an asset allocator, leading Asian hedge fund research and due diligence at hedge fund-of-funds PAAMCO and KBC Alpha Asset Management in Singapore and Tokyo.
David received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and holds a Bachelor of International Business from Griffith University in Australia, and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

Prior to joining January Capital, he was the Head of Data at StashAway, a digital wealth manager with over US$ 1 billion in assets under management. As one of StashAway’s early employees, he supported the build out of the company’s flagship product as team lead and later on, as an engineering manager. Over a four-year span, he helped launched the product in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand and the UAE.

Gerald Yeo
